Following last year’s success, the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association (OSEA) and the Ontario Natural Building Coalition (ONBC) are collaborating again on their respective green energy & housing events! OSEA’s Green Energy Doors Open, September 9, 10, 11, and ONBC’s Natural Homes Tour, October 1&2, will bring the opportunity for the public to visit a fabulous array of green building and energy projects across the province.
Now in its 5th year, Green Energy Doors Open, is a province-wide, year-round communications campaign and showcase of individual, community, and commercial sustainable energy projects and initiatives. Its highlight this year are the three days in the fall, September 9, 10 & 11, where members of the public can attend more than 150 events across the province. The goal is to demonstrate that Ontario is already on the path to building a 100% clean, sustainable energy system. Businesses, organizations and individuals will be opening their doors and hosting free events to promote sustainable energy, energy education.
The ONBC puts on a similar annual event, its “Natural Homes Tour”, which has more of a focus on small-scale, green housing projects. Homes are located in clusters around Ontario. The tour is geared towards promoting the use of sustainable building methods and products, and allowing interested individuals to experience the look and feel of sustainable living spaces first hand. It also gives the public the chance to gain unique insight into the personal experiences of home owner/builders in their unique planning and building processes. The tour is of special interest to anyone wanting to build their own green home, but all curious individuals are welcomed.
Both OSEA and the ONBC are very excited about this continued collaboration, and information about tour times, dates and locations can be found at the following websites:
